African Climate Stories Fellows are encouraged to inspire environmental action in their communities by using various forms of multimedia to educate and tell stories that resonates best with their audiences.

This is the project embarked on by African Climate Stories Fellow, Victor Mathew Ayegba.

About the Author

Victor Ayegba Mathew is an experienced environmental educator and climate change activist with over 8 years of dedicated involvement in raising awareness and inspiring action on environmental issues. He is known for his expertise in using storytelling techniques to engage diverse audiences and foster a deep understanding of the interconnectedness between nature and human activities. 

Victor’s passion for the environment and social justice began at a young age, leading him to pursue a career focused on environmental education and climate change activism. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainability Education.

As an environmental educator, Victor has worked with various institutions such as EarthCharter International, Foundation For Environmental Education, community organizations such as Ploggin Nigeria Club to name a few. His approach involves leveraging the power of narratives to connect people emotionally with the natural world and inspire them to take action. Through interactive workshops, field works, and engaging contents, Victor has successfully reached diverse audiences, from school children to adults, and instilled a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards the environment.

Storybook synopsis:

The joy and happiness that comes when the children of Danle community throw stones at the mango or guava trees is an unending one. But  the trees they once sat under for bonding and to get fruits from, are gradually disappearing. With the help of their teacher, they set on a quest to restore their community’s disappearing resources.
